Obedience trials are competitions where AKC-registered dogs perform a prescribed set of exercises to earn points:

The dog must score more than 50% of the possible points for each exercise, and receive a minimum of 170 points to earn a leg towards his Companion Dog (CD) title. There are three legs altogether, which must be earned in three shows, under three different judges.
