Aardehond Border Terriers

Reggie grinning on the bar jump

All Aardehond Border Terriers used for breeding have OFA (Orthopedic Foundation for Animals) hip, patella, and cardiac clearances and a current CERF (Canine Eye Registration Foundation) eye clearance.

Even though Border Terriers are considered a relatively healthy breed, there are some health issues that can affect them. No breeder can guarantee that every puppy will live its life without a health problem. But maintaining Border Terrier Club of America suggested health clearances on breeding stock can help alleviate the risk of certain issues. Aardehond Border Terriers complies with BTCA recommendations, and maintains the required clearances for CHIC registration.

Reggie's vital statistics

Even though Reggie is my third Border Terrier, he is my "first" dog in so many ways. My Aardehond Border Terrier firsts include:

  • Conformation championship
  • Earthdog title
  • Agility title
  • Rally obedience title
  • BTCA Versatility dog

Reggie finished his AKC championship at the age of 15 months, delayed because we had to wait through the summer for a major show. He finished his Canadian championship over two weekends, earning four BOBs, two Group 2s, and a Group 3 for points to spare.Reggie

Reggie was included in the first group of Borders to receive CHIC Registration, and participated in the DNA blood draw at the St. Louis Specialty in 2005. He has also had the AKC DNA swab.

My little guy has a fabulous temperament, and still makes me laugh every day ... except when he's chewing holes in my handmade quilts! I've loved every minute that he's been with us.

Reggie is available for stud services to approved bitches with negative brucellosis. His pedigree may be found here.

Take a look at a couple of Reggie's offspring! On the left is Ch. Sulan What's My Line ("Lulu"), owned by David Clinton/Vicuna Ranch, and on the right is Ch. Sulan English Rose Bud, RN ("Figgy"), owned by Sue Baxter. Both pups were bred by Sue Baxter. As you can imagine, Reggie is quite the proud papa!

Aardehond Border Terriers newest addition, Halo, made her conformation debut in April 2006 after taking Conformation classes and Puppy Agility. She completed her championship in near record time, in November 2006.

HaloAfter successfully qualifying twice in the Intro to Quarry at her first AKC earthdog test, Halo easily earned her Junior Earthdog title by earning two qualifying Junior legs back to back at her second AKC earthdog test weekend. She earned her APDT (Association of Pet Dog Trainers) RL1 title on January 6, 2008, and her Novice Agility title on February 16, 2008.

Another upcoming title for Halo will be "Mom," as she will be bred in the spring of 2008. Look here for announcements with more information as it becomes available.

As a breeder, I want my puppies to have as good a home as I believe I provide for my own dogs and to be cherished family members for their entire lifetimes.  I also want to make sure that my puppies will go to the home that is best suited for both them and their new owners. As part of that process, I ask all prospective puppy owners to complete this puppy questionnaire and contact me so that we can schedule a visit.

All pet/companion/performance puppies are sold with a spay/neuter contract. Show puppies are available to approved homes with a show contract.

Halo's pedigree may be found here.

An Angel in My Pocket!

I guess you could call Halo a "stuffed shirt," thanks to the terrific artistry of Shannon Darch! Be sure to visit Shannon's site, Animates, to find more wearable art and other canine creations!
